Benefit Bad Gal BANG! Mascara

Hello loves. Things have finally started settling down in my life, for the mean time.
I will never tire of testing out mascaras, in fact it may be one of my all time favorite things to try.
I have my favorites but there are so many more on the market to explore!
I've always been a fan of Benefit's mascaras and this one was no exception! Extremely pigmented and coats the lash nicely giving you full luxurious lashes! It can get goopy so make sure before applying you wipe off the excess product. I found this brush to be flimsy now I don't know if this is a fault of the sample size or not because I've never used the full size. I would definitely buy this again but I think as far as Benefit is concerned, Roller Lash is still my favorite.

Benefit Bad Gal Liner

Hello loves.
I'm back from holidays! Well, not really I still have a week off before going back to work but I'm back to blogging. I hope you all had a lovely holiday and a happy new year!

I was gifted this Bad Gal liner from a co-worker before we left and have been using it for about a month now.
At first, I couldn't figure out how to get it out, on the bottom of the pencil turns so I thought it turned up and spent an embarrassingly long amount of time trying to make it work before finally asking my co-worker how to do it. Turns out, you just sharpen it. I have to say poor packaging on Benefit's part. I wish this was in black as thats what I usually use to tight line but the grey is dark enough that you can't tell the difference when using it to tight line. Benefit states this is waterproof and guys, I hate to admit it but I cry a lot and this doesn't stand a chance if tears strike. I don't think this is a product I would have gone out of my way to purchase as there are incredibly affordable drug store liners that do the same thing if not better for a fraction of the price.

Highlighter Collection

{top to bottom:  Becca Rose Quartz, ColourPop Fanny Pack & Benefit's Watt's Up}

{left to right: 143, Glo Getter, Forever Lit, Daydream, Forever Young & Kitty Kat}

Hello loves.

We all love a good glow and summer is fast approaching! Bring on the sunshine!
I wanted to share my tiny but ever growing highlighter collection because if you ask me summer is the time for an all out glow. I want to look like a highlight goddess.

Let's start from the beginning. The first ever highlight I used was Benefit's Watts Up as it was a mini included in the Bronze of Champions kit. Full review here. *cringes at the old photography*
This was my favorite highlight for a long time but the more I experiment I find that it's a touch too dark for my pale skin, good thing that this tube is on it's last legs.

ColourPop Fanny Pack, still one of my favorites. This isn't available anymore. I love a stark white highlight and this one packs a punch. I like to layer Forever Lit from the N.G. glow kit over this to really make it pop but used alone you can make it quite subtle. Review here.

ABH N.G. glow kit. I did a full review on this just a few days ago so I won't go into much detail. My favorite shade of course, shocker is Forever Lit.

Becca Light Chaser Highlight in Rose Quartz. I am head over heels for this. It's stunning and drop dead gorgeous when reflected in the light. This will probably be the one and only highlight gracing my cheekbones this summer. I picked this up on sale to boot! I've yet to use it on my eyes though but I can only imagine how beautiful it will be.

Okay, so I forgot to photograph one as I didn't even think about it honestly. It's a highlight in an elf contour quad I have. It's a white highlight but unlike Forever Lit and Fanny Pack it's subtle, almost barely there. I'm not a fan and I rarely use it.

There are so many amazing highlights on the market, I have my eye on a few of the ABH glow kits still and can't wait to get my hands on them.

What's your favorite highlight?

The Blush Tag

Hello loves!
I found this tag over on Jessie's blog and although I don't have the largest blush collection I still thought it would be fun to give it a go!
If you do this tag, be sure to leave me a link in the comments!

What color blush suits you the most?
Pale pinks as I'm extremely fair skinned. Any dark or strongly pigmented blushes will make me look like a clown so I have to be very light handed when applying.

Pressed, cream or loose blush?
I've used only one cream blush before and I've never tried a loose blush so pressed it is for me. The cream blush I used I just didn't like the way it applied and I found it hard to blend out. I find pressed blushes are easy and quick to use making them ideal for everyday. I'd love to try out a loose blush so if anyone has any recommendations please leave them in the comments.

Favourite shimmery blush?
NARS Deep throat. It has a lovely subtle golden shimmer to it unlike some other shimmery blushes which are full of chunky glitter.

Favourite matte blush?
Benefit's Dandelion. Like I said above those pale, subtle pinks are fantastic when it comes to ghostly complexions like mine. This is buildable as well if you want a more pigmented look.

Favourite cream blush?
I've only tried one, it was in the Too Faced Natural Face palette. I found it hard to blend and strongly disliked how it applied to the skin. I would be open to trying more as I don't think you can form an opinion on something after only trying one formula when there are so many other different brands with different formulas.

Favourite drug store blush?
Come to think about it...I've never tried a drug store blush! I know what I'll be picking up next time I'm in the drug store!

Favourite MAC blush?
Again, I've only tried one and it was their mineralized blush in the shade "Dainty" which I do really enjoy.

Biggest blush disappointment?
The cream one from the Too Faced Natural Face Palette.

Best blush packaging?
Out of the ones I own I'd say my Nars cheek palette. Its beautifully designed on the outside and is nice and sturdy and houses a large mirror inside. It's great for traveling.

What's on your blush wish list?
I'm dying to try the Tarte Amazonian clay blushes as I've heard absolutely nothing but good things about them!

Holy grail blush?
At the moment with the little amount of blushes I've tried it would have to be Benefit's Dandelion. I'm keen to try more out though so leave me recommendations in the comments!

Benefit's Dandelion

I'd like to say that spring is right around the corner but as I sit and write this the snow falls outside my window. It is still February though but we just had such a lovely weekend and to see it snowing is disheartening to say the least.

On a happier note I rediscovered Benefit's Dandelion blush in attempt to use up my stash.
A lovely neutral pink that can be worn year round. {I discovered that I bought the full size before even finishing the sample I had in the Feelin' Dandy set, oops}

It's not as pigmented as other blushes on the market but it's easily buildable so I don't mind. Truth be told I'd rather build my blush up as sometimes too much pigment can be a hassle to work with and can end up making you look rather clownish.
For my pale skin this creates a lovely natural flush of pink. The consistency of this is quite powdery but the same can be said for my NARS blushes. The brush included with all the Benefit powders I tend to just toss in the trash. I don't like the way it feels or how it's shaped. I have a million other blush brushes I'd rather use.

As it's so light it wouldn't work for darker skin tones but I think it's a great staple blush to have in your collection if you're fair skinned. It would work wonderfully with a myriad of makeup looks!

What's your favorite Benefit powder?

Benefit - Eye Bright

When I bought this my expectations were low but I was pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem.
The Eye Bright pencil from Benefit is an under eye brightener and although it works well, for what it is I find it a little overpriced for the amount of product. ($26 CAD).

Benefit describes it as a "nap in a stick"I don't know about it being on the same level as a nap, who doesn't love an afternoon nap? There's no feeling quite as good as being snuggled in your bed.

The stick is a bright pink which helps perk up the eye area to make you look more awake.

Not only does it make a great eye brightener but if you're looking for a subtle highlight you can blend a bit along your cheekbones and down your nose to brighten up the face. I use this mostly on the inner corners of my eyes as it really helps to make it look like you had a solid eight hour sleep the night before. I have tried using it under the eye to help with dark circles but I found it hard to blend out nicely and found it pulled the skin as well so unfortunately I'll stick to using it in my inner corners and under my brow.
Not a product you need but if you're in search of something to perk you up in the mornings other than your daily does of coffee this is a great little stick.

What do you use to brighten your eyes?

FOTD # 3 - SILVER

Hey guys. To update everyone regarding my post from yesterday they are still working on getting the fires under control and there have yet to be more evacuations. Thank you to anyone who has donated to help Alberta, being an Albertan citizen it really touches my heart to see all the help we as a province have received and the help that citizens are giving to Fort McMurray residents. It's a heart breaking situation that will hopefully end soon.

I was originally going to post this FOTD yesterday but as you all know I wanted to bring to light what was happening here. I appreciate everyone who took the time to read that and to donate. <3 p="">

Benefit Gloss - Dandelion & Hoola

Hey everyone!

Hope everyone had a good weekend, I know I did. The man and I went to British Columbia and spent about 95% of our whole weekend outdoors with our pup. I love time spent in the sun.

I wanted to talk about Lip gloss. I don't know if I've mentioned before but I am not a fan and believe me I've tried. I've seen some tinted lip glosses on the market but I LOVE a bold lip and rock one just about everyday so lip gloss for me is just.... I don't even really take time anymore to look at different ones. I am quick to judge though, I'll be the first to admit. I haven't gone shopping looking for a super pigmented gloss. I know they exist I just I don't like the stickiness of gloss or overall feel so if you know one that feels more like a lipstick, let me know below!

On to two of I think four lip glosses I own (which is nothing if you've seen my lipstick collection)
Benefit Cosmetics lip gloss in the shades "Hoola" & "Dandelion"

Both of these are super sheer as you can see. Dandelion gives a nice tinted pink sheer, I don't totally hate either of these but I wouldn't buy the full sizes. Dandelion would look really gorgeous over a nude or light pink lipstick. Hoola is a pink toned brown gloss I'd say. When I wear this I wear it alone  or over top a nude lipstick.

Benefit's glosses are sticky and I have long hair with a lot of fly aways and it constantly get's stuck on my lips when wearing these which is another negative for me for lip gloss. Like I said these are extremely sheer, I wouldn't even really say they show any color when on the lips. I am honestly glad I didn't buy the little Benefit sets these came in for these or I would have been extremely disappointed. These are both from the Ultra Plush line and retail for $16 USD on the Benefit site.

If you like lip gloss give em' a go but for my bolder lip ladies like myself, skip this one.

=)

What are some highly pigmented lip glosses?

HOOLA

Hey beauts!

Lipgloss, I can't say I'm a big fan....I love bright and bold colours and most lip glosses give you a sheer tint if that.

I received this sample size Hoola gloss from Benefit when I purchased the Bronze of Champions kit, a normal tube retails for $16 USD which for a sheer tint and some shimmer....I could get that in a Covergirl gloss for half the price. I don't know if it's just the Ultra plush line from Benefit but I also have the Dandelion gloss and my gripe is the same as this one, sheer and shimmer that's what you get. The texture of these however is wonderful and they don't feel sticky when applying nor does everything that comes near your face stick to your lips *raise your hand if your hair is always getting stuck to your lip* haha every single damn time I try to wear gloss. Like I said above absolutely no colour payoff but does give your lips shimmer for a couple hours which is amazing compared to drugstore gloss comparisons not to mention this gloss smells amazing.

I wouldn't pay full price for this and I wouldn't buy any of the full size glosses in this line as I don't like either of the two I've tried, sorry Benefit. I love you but these were a disappointment.

Lipstick or lip gloss?

February Favorites

Hey everyone, yes I have NEVER done a monthly favorites...so here we go... tbh I have been through some financial problems lately so my favorites are mostly old products but I wanted to show you guys anyway!

Victoria's Secret, Love Spell Body Spray -- I LOVE this body spray the scent is cherry blossom & peach definitely more of a summer scent but hey that hasn't stopped me from wearing it. Actually this has become my favorite scent in my collection and I am quite the body spray fanatic.

Lancome Bi Facil eye makeup remover - This is the best eye makeup remover I have ever used and I wear very heavy mascara and eyeliner on a daily basis. It does have oil for you girls or guys out there who don't prefer an oil based remover. However this stuff is so gentle and you're not needlesly tugging at your eye trying to get your makeup off and to get rid of that oily feeling just rinse your face off with water.

A cult favorite - Benefit's Hoola Bronzer - As we all know this has been hyped up for years in the beauty world, great for fair skinned people as it doesn't make you look like you just rubbed dirt on your face. I have that problem a lot....

Rimmel London's Wake Me Up foundation -- When swatched on the hand this stuff looks like a glitter party broke out, oddly enough it doesn't transfer like that on your face., probably to date the best drugstore foundation I've tried but not if you're looking fors omething matte.

e.l.f. studio cream eyeliner -- $3, this little jar of miracles only cost THREE DOLLARS, let me repeat that one more time! If you have not tried this go to e.l.f right now and order it. This is not waterproof but it's withstood every cry I've had with it on, doesn't smudge and I've had for a few months and it hasn't dried out, for three dollars I don't think I'll ever try another eyeliner.

Cetaphil moisturizer -- I'm one to constantly complain about dry skin especially in Alberta's cold harsh winters but this has stopped that and it hasn't bothered my skin at all but it has made it feel ten times more moisturized.

That's everything, what were you guys loving this month?

watt's up?

Hey everyone, here it is the first "new" so to speak post on the new blog. Another very hyped up and cult favorite among the blogosphere is the "Watt's Up" highlighter by Benefit. It's a soft focus highlighter with a champagne sheen as you can see in the above swatch.

I have tried this and Benefit's "High Beam" and I quite honestly can't decide which one I love more. This provides a beautiful glow to your cheekbones and works great on dry skin, blends wonderfully. I don't have enough praise for this product. When it's blended out it looks natural on your skin and provides you with a gorgeous glow. I use Watt's Up over my foundation currently but I have wonders about using it underneath so I am thinking of giving that a go.

I only have the sample size right now but once this little fella is dried up I will be running to the closest Sephora to pick up the full size.

This little product is a cult favorite among MANY bloggers as you all know. It’s a great bronzer for fair skinned gals such as myself as most tend to make me look I rolled my face in dirt or mud, not flattering.  I love that this is a matte bronzer as it creates much more natural finish then a shimmer would and it blends beautifully! The packaging is super cute and comes with a handy little mirror and a brush, I don’t use the brush as I have other brushes I prefer to apply this with and the one this comes with isn’t of the best quality. This is on the pricey side but if you’re like me and don’t use bronzer very often it should last you a lifetime!

Bronze Of Champions

Hey everyone, sorry it’s been a few days I’ve been quite busy but I’m back. A while back I bought the Benefit - Bronze of Champions kit which includes a sample size of the creaseless cream shadow in Bikini-Tini and a longwear powder shadow in Thanks a Latte, Watt’s up! highlighter, Hoola bronzing powder and brush, They’re Real mascara and Hoola gloss. Today I’m going to review the eyeshadow combo of Bikin-Tini and Thanks A Latte.
image
Left: Bikin-Tini and Right: Thanks A Latte
image
I used Bikini-Tini all over the lid and Thanks a Latte along the crease and in the outer corners of my eyes. I like the combo of these eye shadows, its a nice neutral everyday look. However, the CREASELESS Bikini-Tini cream shadow is not creaseless it may be because I did not use an eyeshadow primer but I found within a couple of hours the shadow was creasing so I am going to try this with a primer next time around. I had no problems with the Thanks A Latte. If you notice that shimmer under my eyes that is product fall out from the Bikini-Tini so another downside of this shadow…Overall I don’t LOVE it but I like the look so I will continue to use it would I buy the Bikini-Tini full size, no but I might try some of the other Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadows.

Long time coming....beauty wishes*

Hey everyone, long time no talk..
Reading all the beauty blogs and watching a variety of beauty gurus on Youtube I've been creating a list of different beauty products I'd like to invest in.
  • Benefit -Hoola Bronzer (won't be buying this until the summertime)

  • ELF Cosmetics - nothing in particular just interested in the brand. *If you recommend anything leave it below!
  • Benefit - Eye Bright Pencil

  • OPI Goldeneye -

  • Benefit - Dandelion blush

  • MAC - studio finish concealer

That's it for now, most products are for the face. Bye for now!
