Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick Collection

Hello loves!

We all know I'm one of the biggest lip junkies you'll ever meet. Here I am again with yet another lip product collection. The Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Finish lipsticks are some of the best, affordable lipsticks you will ever find. They retail for $6.99 CAD and are an absolute bargain!

Alongside the original range that was released there's been a nude range and a matte range released as well. The mattes are my favorite formula and include my favorite shades, although I only own two. The mattes and nudes don't include as many shades as the original line up.

Originals:
01 -  A deep ruby red. I've gone into enough detail on my never ending love for a red lip on this blog so I won't drag on with this.

05 - A bright rosy pink. One I don't reach for often as again I prefer a red.

08 - A deep coral toned pink. This one looks very used but in all honesty, I forgot to put it down whilst putting the cap on leading to a smashed top. Oops. Another one I don't wear very often.

10 -  Bright, pink toned red. Although I like my reds dark and toned down this one is great for the spring/summer! Bring on those fun, bright colors!

11 - Deep, dark red. Extremely similar to shade 01 but being the junkie I am, I needed both. They're almost identical if I'm honest.

14 - A deep beige nude. Perfect lip for everyday work, or if like me you work in an office and need a more toned down look for everyday. (Just kidding, I rock a red lip to work almost five days a week)

17 - A light rosy pink. I prefer this over 05 because it's more subtle and looks far more natural. Pinks don't mesh well with my fair skin and not so perfectly white teeth, especially not the obnoxiously bright shades.

30 - A deep purple berry shade. This gorgeous color is gracing my lips today and I love it. The downside with this one is that I find it applies patchy but not enough to deter me from using it.

The Nudes:
40 -  a pale beige. This one is too light for me and needs to be paired with a darker nude liner to work. Otherwise, I look dead.

42 - A dark pink toned beige. Much better suited to me. A simple easy to wear no fuss nude. We all need one (100) in our collection.

Excluding the mattes, these are formulated with a smooth, creamy finish and intense color payoff. I haven't been disappointed in any of them yet and will eventually own the entire collection I'm sure.
I will certainly be trying to find other shades in the matte formula as I just can't enough of matte lips. Yes, I know glitter is the on trend thing at the moment but my love affair with mattes is too great to give up.

What is your favorite lip range/product?

Top 5 - Nude Lips

 Hello loves!

As you all know I'm more of a dark lip fan but that doesn't mean I don't own some nudes. In fact I'll be the first to admit that the nude collection is constantly growing. Today I wanted to share with you my current top five, almost all of which are drug store.

Being fair skinned it's hard to find a nude that doesn't make me look like a washed out zombie but I've narrowed it down to my five favorites.

{left to right - Maybelline Peach Buff, Rimmel Kate Moss 40, Rimmel Nude Delight, Tarte Birthday Suit & Rimmel Kate Moss 42}

Maybelline Peach Buff -  After looking at the swatch, I'm debating whether or not would this would be classified as a pink. Either way, it goes on smooth doesn't dry out the lips and works with a variety of looks.

Rimmel Kate Moss Nude 40 - I'm a huge fan of the Kate Moss range of lipsticks. Aside from the nude range I own almost all the colors. These are affordable, easy to wear and easy to apply. This i a tad too light but looks fantastic mixed with a darker nude.

Rimmel Moisture Renew in Nude Delight - Usually brown toned nudes don't mesh well my skin tone but I have no issues with this one and again being on the darker side it looks better than lighter nudes which wash me out.

Tarte Birthday Suit - A recent addition to my collection. But fast becoming a firm favorite. It's the perfect combo of a dark lip and a nude at the same time. Not only that but it's matte and I love a matte lip!

Rimmel Kate Moss 42 - This one is the perfect nude color for me, not too pink nor brown. Strikes the perfect balance for my pale pale self.

What's your favorite nude?

#instaflawless

Good afternoon loves.
I hope you're all having a lovely weekend.
Rimmel released their Insta collection a while back but I never bothered picking anything up. I've been wanting to try a cream contour for a while now but didn't want to go buying an expensive palette until I tried it out.
While browsing needlessly in Shopper's I spotted this little compact on sale. I'd read previous reviews on it and they weren't great but it was only eight dollars so I figured there was no harm in trying.
I got mine in 010 - Light.

Sleek and compact the packaging includes a photo on the back showing where to use the products which is handy for beginners in makeup or cream contouring like me.

 {left to right - Highlight, Concealer & Contour}

Easy to use, the products are extremely creamy and blend out easily on top of foundation. I'm not a fan of the highlight shade as it's matte and I love a blinding highlight. The highlight almost acts as more of an illuminating concealer. The concealer was creamy and easy to build up. I use it on my under eyes and have had minimal issues with it creasing. I saw another reviewer saying it clung to dry patches but I haven't noticed it on my skin and as my readers know I have extremely dry skin.
The contour shade is a tad too orange but it does blend out nicely. Bbeing fair skinned if a shade is too orange it  tends to make the face look muddy. Due to that I do have to be careful when applying.

It's a handy, compact palette that is great for on the run or traveling. Having tried this I am hoping to try out some other cream contour products to see how I get along with them.

What's your favorite way to contour?

A/W - Top 5 Lipsticks

Hello loves!

I adore fall and winter. The season where dark vampy lips are always an acceptable choice.
Of course looking at the above photos it's obvious I'm all about my reds opposed to the ever popular berry shades.

These are my most worn lipsticks this time of year although it doesn't really look like it, I promise you they are. I just own a ridiculous amount of lip products.

Three of them happen to be from the Rimmel Kate Moss range of lipsticks, two of which are in the matte formula.

{left to right: Kate Moss Shade 10, Kate Moss Matte 107, Kate Moss Matte 111, MAC Russian Red, Lancome Red Stiletto}

Kate Moss Shade 10 -  A perfect red. While not completely matte I wouldn't say it's creamy either. I'd call this more of a semi matte finish. I've been wearing this one quite a lot in the past couple of weeks. The great thing about the Rimmel Kate Moss lipsticks is how extremely affordable they are, retailing at about $6.99 CAD.

107 - If you haven't seen this particular color splashed across various beauty blogs, where have you been? Of course once I saw Zoella in this I had to have it, I adore her! 107 is a stunning dark berry color that is perfect for the fall.

111 - Okay, I know this looks almost identical to shade 10 but this formula is matte and quite honestly I really don't need both but I love them both and will continue to use each of them.

MAC Russian Red - I've talked about this particular lipstick more than enough on my blog. I love it, it's by far one of my favorites in my collection.

Lancome Red Stiletto - This is the creamiest one in the bunch and again is just that perfect holiday red. I'll be honest and say this is the bottom of my top 5 mostly because I prefer a matte finish.

What's your favorite color to sport during Fall and Winter?

Rimmel - Wake Me Up Foundation

 Hello loves!

The weather here in Alberta is getting colder by the day and I'm so unprepared for winter. On the other hand fall/winter makeup is my favorite. Bring on the berry shades, dark red lips and bronzed eyes.

I ran out of foundation and bought an oldie that I've tried before. Round two however didn't give me the same results I remembered. The Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation is a medium coverage dewy finish foundation that is meant to make you look more awake. Enriched with vitamin c and "radiance pearls"  it's supposed to erase dullness and even out the skin tone erasing signs of fatigue.
The first time I used this I loved it. It's affordable and I remember thinking it made my skin look beautiful. Back when I first used this I'd only just been getting into the world of base products not really knowing what a good foundation was, now that I know more I'm not so impressed.

This foundation has shimmer in it. I like a dewy finish but that doesn't mean I want my face looking like a disco ball. It doesn't come across that way in the hand swatch but in the daylight you can certainly see the shimmer shining through on your face, it almost creates a greasy look to the skin. As it wears throughout the day it does oxidize, not terribly but enough to notice and this was something I noticed with the lightest shade in the range (100 - Ivory). Not only does it get darker with wear but it breaks up and even completely disappeared in spots on my face. By the end of the day my face looked like a patchy disaster. I wish I'd loved this as much as I did the first time I used it but unfortunately that wasn't the case. I might give the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer another chance too to see if my opinion on it has changed as well. I wrote a review on the concealer three years back and I loved it just like I loved the foundation.

What 's your go to foundation?

Rimmel #INSTAFLAWLESS Primer

 Hello everyone!

I feel like I'm going to be looking for that perfect primer forever. For the longest time I've been using the Nivea Men's Shave Balm (it lasts forever) but it finally jut reached it's end and I wanted to give something new a try.

While I was out at Wal-Mart I spotted this bad boy at the end of the aisle. The #instaflawless collection by Rimmel is brand new so I thought why not grab something that I needed to test out.

I bought the primer in "clear" but I believe they have a tinted one as well in light/medium & dark. Although it comes out of the tube as a white cream when rubbed into the skin it disappears instantly.
The Insta Flawless primer claims to brighten skin tone & provide a natural looking glow.

Upon first application I didn't notice any brightening effect on the skin but it did create a beautiful natural glowing base. It's not a pore filling primer but it  left my face as a smooth canvas prepped for foundation. This works wonderfully under moisturizer and isn't drying! I have such a tough time trying to find a primer that doesn't leave me skin crying for hydration so I'm thankful to have found one that keeps the moisture locked in.
In terms of makeup wear it kept my makeup in place as long as any other primer I've used, a good 8-9 hours.

It's a great & affordable primer that I'd happily purchase again. Don't get me wrong there are A LOT of primers out there and I've yet to even dip my toe into the ocean but this one may become a favorite of mine.

What's your ride or die primer?

Drug Store Haul

 Hello loves!

I have some exciting news to share with you before we get into this drug store haul.
I'm so close to hitting my 25 follower mark on Bloglovin and as you know I wanted to do a giveaway once I reached that goal.

My question for you guys is what would you like for the giveaway?
Originally I wanted to do a Huda Beauty Liquid Lipstick but there's been so many new things released since then!
Leave me a comment below telling me what you would love to see for a giveaway.

I got all the above products (not the charmed aroma candles) for only thirty five dollars! Pretty impressive if I do say so myself. The lipsticks were on sale for $3.99 and the lip liner was only $2.99. Hello steal! The hairspray & blistex were just a couple of things I needed.

I was in desperate need of a new shampoo. I've never used HASK products before but the promise of moisture sucked me in. It says its Paraben and Sulfate free but I read through the ingredients and parabens and sulfates still appear and quite high up in the ingredient list unlike the coconut oil which appears closer to the bottom. Say hello to false advertising. Either way I'm willing to try it and see how it fairs. I'll update you guys once I test it out for a while.

{left to right - 1000 Kisses (lip liner), 220 Dusty Rose, 510 Mayfair Red Lady, 700 Nude Delight & 705 Let's Get Naked}

This lip liner I've seen pop up across many blogs so I have high hopes for it. It's the Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in the shade 1000 Kisses.

I've never used Rimmel lipsticks outside of the Kate Moss Lasting Finish ones which I L O V E.
Usually, I prefer more of a matte finish where as these are more creamy. Looking at the swatch of Nude Delight I'm realizing it may be a bit to light for my skin tone but we will see. These are all from the Rimmel Moisture Renew range and I'm excited to see if these will turn me away from the matte trend I love so much.

Please leave your giveaway suggestions below!

Top 5 - Lipsticks {Drugstore Edition}

Hey loves!
It's been a few days since my last post, I was having some serious bloggers block for a while and thought why not do a Top 5 post as I love to read them and figured you might as well.

We're going to chat about my top 5 favorite drug store lipsticks.
They're almost all reds & the same brand, oops.
I can't even fathom how many times I've mentioned that red is by far my all time favorite lip color on my blog but if this doesn't prove it, I don't know what will.

{Note: The swatches follow left to right as they are laid in the above photos}

Do you see a running theme here?

I think Covergirl renamed this shade "Hot" When I was searching for the link I was unable to find "Hot Passion" This is one of the reds Taylor Swift is known to rock, there's a fun fact for you! I love this because it's matte which is my favorite finish and it lasts on the lips forever. After swatching these I went to remove them with a Burts Bee Makeup Remover cloth and this was the only one which didn't come off fully. This does leave a stain on the lips once it wears down and for a matte lipstick it's very comfortable on the lips, no negatives about this bad boy!

The Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipsticks by Rimmel. I love these.
I own a lot of lip products, both drug store and high end. Out of all the drug store lip products I've tried these are the best. They are only $6.99 and are extremely pigmented and I'd say are more of a satin finish as they're not a flat matte nor are they shimmers. I own almost every shade these come in including the nude collection but I narrowed it down to the 111, 42, 01 and 107.
107 is a beauty blogger cult favorite including beauty gurus like Zoella so I won't go into much detail about it.
I didn't realize until they were swatched but 111 and 01 are identical so I guess you don't really need both.
42 is from the nude collection and I love it because it's not so pale that I turn into a corpse when wearing it and I like pink toned nudes as I find they suit my pale skin better than ones with brown undertones.

So, there you have it my top 5 favorite drug store lippies.

What are your top 5?

Rimmel - STAY AWAKE

Hello everyone! Another new post, I'm like a whole new person who posts regularly, haha.

I'm going to talk about concealers, I don't think I've ever done a post on any sort of cover up so this will be new for me and all of you. I wanted to talk about Rimmel London's Stay Awake concealer (p.s. they have a foundation too which is F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C, highly recommend).

I have the lightest shade suitably name "very fair" for my poor pale skin.

This concealer has a nice creamy texture to it, I recently heard someone saying theirs had got watery after a while I have never had this problem and I've had this concealer for a few months now. The coverage is light - medium I'd say as you can see in the above photo, covered a few freckles at least! I would not recommend this a under eye concealer if you have very dark circles. I don't even have extreme dark circles but I find this is not enough to cover mine so if you're searching for that HG concealer this won't be a great option for you. Rimmel being a drug store brand is super affordable and this concealer is available at most drug stores/department stores. I picked mine up at Wal-Mart for around $9.99 CAD.

What do you guys think of this concealer? Let me know in the comments
=)

February Favorites

Hey everyone, yes I have NEVER done a monthly favorites...so here we go... tbh I have been through some financial problems lately so my favorites are mostly old products but I wanted to show you guys anyway!

Victoria's Secret, Love Spell Body Spray -- I LOVE this body spray the scent is cherry blossom & peach definitely more of a summer scent but hey that hasn't stopped me from wearing it. Actually this has become my favorite scent in my collection and I am quite the body spray fanatic.

Lancome Bi Facil eye makeup remover - This is the best eye makeup remover I have ever used and I wear very heavy mascara and eyeliner on a daily basis. It does have oil for you girls or guys out there who don't prefer an oil based remover. However this stuff is so gentle and you're not needlesly tugging at your eye trying to get your makeup off and to get rid of that oily feeling just rinse your face off with water.

A cult favorite - Benefit's Hoola Bronzer - As we all know this has been hyped up for years in the beauty world, great for fair skinned people as it doesn't make you look like you just rubbed dirt on your face. I have that problem a lot....

Rimmel London's Wake Me Up foundation -- When swatched on the hand this stuff looks like a glitter party broke out, oddly enough it doesn't transfer like that on your face., probably to date the best drugstore foundation I've tried but not if you're looking fors omething matte.

e.l.f. studio cream eyeliner -- $3, this little jar of miracles only cost THREE DOLLARS, let me repeat that one more time! If you have not tried this go to e.l.f right now and order it. This is not waterproof but it's withstood every cry I've had with it on, doesn't smudge and I've had for a few months and it hasn't dried out, for three dollars I don't think I'll ever try another eyeliner.

Cetaphil moisturizer -- I'm one to constantly complain about dry skin especially in Alberta's cold harsh winters but this has stopped that and it hasn't bothered my skin at all but it has made it feel ten times more moisturized.

That's everything, what were you guys loving this month?

*August Favorites

It's the end of the month and that means blogs are going to be flooded with the latest and greatest. My products are not so much on the new end but they were my most used of the month.

First is the Color Shield collection from Garnier Fructis. I dyed my hair just for the occasion! These products are fantastic. Remember those first couple of showers after dying your hair and watching as the color runs through the water, the Garnier Fructis Shampoo and Conditioner locks in your color I haven't noticed any run of color in my showers. Couldn't be more happy with these products, the spray bottle is a heat protectant and shine spray meant for colored hair and it does a good job of keeping your hair smooth and not brittle.
(* Note: these products were sent to me by Influenster for review purposes but all opinions are my own)

Second is Batiste - Dry Shampoo, I know this stuff has been around for ages however I've only recently decided to give it a shot, this is my third bottle in about a month and a half this one was on sale for $5.99! I have the unfortunate gift of incredibly greasy hair and it's horrible having to wash it everyday especially for the natural oils in your hair so with this I end up needing to only shower about three times a week. Thank you Batiste.

The Benefit "Bronze of Champions" kit mostly the Hoola bronzer and the Watt's up highlighter. Watt's Up has been used just about everyday the past month and is still being used daily, gives the face a beautiful champagne shimmer and the bronzer is well a cult favorite among many. For my pale skin its about the only thing that doesn't make it look like I rubbed my face in dirt.

Rimmel's Wake Me Up Foundation. Great for summer as it's not heavy but provides decent coverage and if required is buildable. Did I mention it smells super fruity?! I love love love this foundation my favorite drugstore foundation to date.

The Maybelline master precise liquid eyeliner. The easiest eyeliner you will ever use. Honestly go out right now and buy it. I've been using this eyeliner for over five years and I have not strayed it's that great. If you have trouble with liquid eyeliner don't be afraid this will solve all your troubles.

The last two are fashion items, the first is a gold multi chain necklace from Dynamite. I do not buy real jewelery, frankly I can't keep a necklace from breaking to save my life so this luckily was only $8.00! It goes with EVERYTHING, it's the perfect statement necklace. Lastly, are the Sleeping Beauty leggings from the Princess and Villain Collection from Blackmilk. I am the biggest Disney fan and these are everything and more I could ask from a legging. Actually I've been on quite a Blackmilk binge lately. Anyone out there who lives in leggings like I do? Check out Blackmilk!

Review: Rimmel Eye Shadow Quad - Royal Tea 030

image

image

image

Hello everyone, it’s been a couple of days but I’m back. I apologize for the not so great lighting in the first two photos. Today I wanted to review an eye shadow quad I picked up quite a while back. I’ve never been one to buy eye shadow so I grabbed something cheap, this quad retails for $5.99. I don’t have much to say about this, I do like the color scheme however it’s not pigmented at all. I’ve used this only a few times and you can see how hard I had to press the brush in to get any color at all. There’s about three coats on my eyelids and I still don’t find it very pigmented. The packaging is extremely cheap but what can you expect with a $6 quad, the lid fell off within about two days time. Overall I would not repurchase this, in fact I was so disappointed with this I wouldn’t purchase any of the other Rimmel eye shadow quads.
