The Blush Tag

Hello loves!
I found this tag over on Jessie's blog and although I don't have the largest blush collection I still thought it would be fun to give it a go!
If you do this tag, be sure to leave me a link in the comments!

What color blush suits you the most?
Pale pinks as I'm extremely fair skinned. Any dark or strongly pigmented blushes will make me look like a clown so I have to be very light handed when applying.

Pressed, cream or loose blush?
I've used only one cream blush before and I've never tried a loose blush so pressed it is for me. The cream blush I used I just didn't like the way it applied and I found it hard to blend out. I find pressed blushes are easy and quick to use making them ideal for everyday. I'd love to try out a loose blush so if anyone has any recommendations please leave them in the comments.

Favourite shimmery blush?
NARS Deep throat. It has a lovely subtle golden shimmer to it unlike some other shimmery blushes which are full of chunky glitter.

Favourite matte blush?
Benefit's Dandelion. Like I said above those pale, subtle pinks are fantastic when it comes to ghostly complexions like mine. This is buildable as well if you want a more pigmented look.

Favourite cream blush?
I've only tried one, it was in the Too Faced Natural Face palette. I found it hard to blend and strongly disliked how it applied to the skin. I would be open to trying more as I don't think you can form an opinion on something after only trying one formula when there are so many other different brands with different formulas.

Favourite drug store blush?
Come to think about it...I've never tried a drug store blush! I know what I'll be picking up next time I'm in the drug store!

Favourite MAC blush?
Again, I've only tried one and it was their mineralized blush in the shade "Dainty" which I do really enjoy.

Biggest blush disappointment?
The cream one from the Too Faced Natural Face Palette.

Best blush packaging?
Out of the ones I own I'd say my Nars cheek palette. Its beautifully designed on the outside and is nice and sturdy and houses a large mirror inside. It's great for traveling.

What's on your blush wish list?
I'm dying to try the Tarte Amazonian clay blushes as I've heard absolutely nothing but good things about them!

Holy grail blush?
At the moment with the little amount of blushes I've tried it would have to be Benefit's Dandelion. I'm keen to try more out though so leave me recommendations in the comments!

Benefit's Dandelion

I'd like to say that spring is right around the corner but as I sit and write this the snow falls outside my window. It is still February though but we just had such a lovely weekend and to see it snowing is disheartening to say the least.

On a happier note I rediscovered Benefit's Dandelion blush in attempt to use up my stash.
A lovely neutral pink that can be worn year round. {I discovered that I bought the full size before even finishing the sample I had in the Feelin' Dandy set, oops}

It's not as pigmented as other blushes on the market but it's easily buildable so I don't mind. Truth be told I'd rather build my blush up as sometimes too much pigment can be a hassle to work with and can end up making you look rather clownish.
For my pale skin this creates a lovely natural flush of pink. The consistency of this is quite powdery but the same can be said for my NARS blushes. The brush included with all the Benefit powders I tend to just toss in the trash. I don't like the way it feels or how it's shaped. I have a million other blush brushes I'd rather use.

As it's so light it wouldn't work for darker skin tones but I think it's a great staple blush to have in your collection if you're fair skinned. It would work wonderfully with a myriad of makeup looks!

What's your favorite Benefit powder?

Benefit Gloss - Dandelion & Hoola

Hey everyone!

Hope everyone had a good weekend, I know I did. The man and I went to British Columbia and spent about 95% of our whole weekend outdoors with our pup. I love time spent in the sun.

I wanted to talk about Lip gloss. I don't know if I've mentioned before but I am not a fan and believe me I've tried. I've seen some tinted lip glosses on the market but I LOVE a bold lip and rock one just about everyday so lip gloss for me is just.... I don't even really take time anymore to look at different ones. I am quick to judge though, I'll be the first to admit. I haven't gone shopping looking for a super pigmented gloss. I know they exist I just I don't like the stickiness of gloss or overall feel so if you know one that feels more like a lipstick, let me know below!

On to two of I think four lip glosses I own (which is nothing if you've seen my lipstick collection)
Benefit Cosmetics lip gloss in the shades "Hoola" & "Dandelion"

Both of these are super sheer as you can see. Dandelion gives a nice tinted pink sheer, I don't totally hate either of these but I wouldn't buy the full sizes. Dandelion would look really gorgeous over a nude or light pink lipstick. Hoola is a pink toned brown gloss I'd say. When I wear this I wear it alone  or over top a nude lipstick.

Benefit's glosses are sticky and I have long hair with a lot of fly aways and it constantly get's stuck on my lips when wearing these which is another negative for me for lip gloss. Like I said these are extremely sheer, I wouldn't even really say they show any color when on the lips. I am honestly glad I didn't buy the little Benefit sets these came in for these or I would have been extremely disappointed. These are both from the Ultra Plush line and retail for $16 USD on the Benefit site.

If you like lip gloss give em' a go but for my bolder lip ladies like myself, skip this one.

=)
