Tarte 4-in-1 Marine Boosting Mist

Hello loves.

I've just started dipping my toe into the world of Tarte. I've owned the Tartelette palette for awhile but up until now that was it. If I'm being honest, it never blew me away. Back in June I got a Sephora gift card and had been eyeing up Tarte and saw the Hydrate, Glow and Illuminate Essentials pack which included this, a lip balm and the first Skin Twinkle Highlighting Palette. Originally I was going to pick up the second Skin Twinkle palette but the last two shades in the palette were far too dark for my pale skin so $52 CAD seemed ridiculous when I could only get use out of half the palette.

I've always been intrigued by Tarte as they have quite a large skincare range against their makeup range. This is a "multipurpose" setting spray, It primes, sets, hydrates and locks in makeup. It's supposed to help smooth any fine lines, wrinkles and reduce the appearance of pores. On top of  makeup I hated this, it was extremely tacky and didn't seem to dry down. I use it the way the bottle says to do which is to apply after applying moisturizer which has changed my makeup game. The current foundation/concealer combo I'm using leaves me with dry, cakey under eyes and I believe it's the foundation (Rimmel Lasting Finish) as I've used the concealer (Maybelline Fit Me) under other foundations with no issues. I apply my Glam Glow moisturiser, spray this on top and finish applying my makeup. It has certainly smoothed out the fine lines underneath my eyes and has actually managed to lock the foundation on my nose in place! That alone is reason enough to give it five stars. As for minimizing the look of pores I haven't noticed any difference there. There are a lot of reviews saying the pump gets sticky and sprays in a strong jet, I've had no issues there but maybe it's due to mine being a mini?

Tarte Tartelette

Good morning loves.

I was met with some sad news this weekend, another family member of mine has passed away. This is the second one in only three months, it's been a tough year for my family and I.

Of course, I don't want to dwell on it so to keep me occupied I thought I'd write a review for you all on the Tarte, Tartelette palette. A natural all matte palette housing twelve shades. You may notice I'm missing one. While doing my makeup one morning this crashed to the ground, luckily enough though the only shade that crumbled out was the matte black which I have in almost every other palette so I wasn't too heart broken!
These shades swatch terribly but perform like a dream on the eyes. They are silky, pigmented and blend well, the only shade I have a problem blending is the dark purple. I don't use this palette too much as I find it kind of boring. Most of the shades are too similar for my liking as you can see in the swatches. It doesn't feed my creativity, I find that most looks I try to create with this end looking the same which isn't what I look for in a palette. If you need an easy to wear palette however this would be perfect as it does create simple, professional looks for a work environment.

What's your favorite Tarte palette?

Top 5 - Nude Lips

 Hello loves!

As you all know I'm more of a dark lip fan but that doesn't mean I don't own some nudes. In fact I'll be the first to admit that the nude collection is constantly growing. Today I wanted to share with you my current top five, almost all of which are drug store.

Being fair skinned it's hard to find a nude that doesn't make me look like a washed out zombie but I've narrowed it down to my five favorites.

{left to right - Maybelline Peach Buff, Rimmel Kate Moss 40, Rimmel Nude Delight, Tarte Birthday Suit & Rimmel Kate Moss 42}

Maybelline Peach Buff -  After looking at the swatch, I'm debating whether or not would this would be classified as a pink. Either way, it goes on smooth doesn't dry out the lips and works with a variety of looks.

Rimmel Kate Moss Nude 40 - I'm a huge fan of the Kate Moss range of lipsticks. Aside from the nude range I own almost all the colors. These are affordable, easy to wear and easy to apply. This i a tad too light but looks fantastic mixed with a darker nude.

Rimmel Moisture Renew in Nude Delight - Usually brown toned nudes don't mesh well my skin tone but I have no issues with this one and again being on the darker side it looks better than lighter nudes which wash me out.

Tarte Birthday Suit - A recent addition to my collection. But fast becoming a firm favorite. It's the perfect combo of a dark lip and a nude at the same time. Not only that but it's matte and I love a matte lip!

Rimmel Kate Moss 42 - This one is the perfect nude color for me, not too pink nor brown. Strikes the perfect balance for my pale pale self.

What's your favorite nude?

Collective Haul #1

Good morning everyone!
I hope you're all having a lovely Christmas with your friends & families.
I've been meaning to write this post for a while but with the holidays and what not my life's been busy. I had two dinners this weekend and was supposed to be at another one today but I don't think my body could handle any more food!

This is just a little collective haul from the past few months and a cheeky little Christmas present here and there.

I picked up a shirt from Urban Planet. It's a long sleeve shirt with a criss cross back in a mustard yellow color. It was on sale for only seven dollars!

I've been into Sephora more than I'd like to admit in the past month and never got my birthday gift back in June so with my last purchase I mentioned I never got it and they graciously gave it to me almost six months later. I chose the Tarte set as I haven't ever tried anything from the brand. The lip is in the shade Birthday Suit and is a perfect nude, the blush gives a subtle natural flush to the cheeks. On my Sephora trips I got the Urban Decay Naked Heat with my $15 off coupon and the Huda Beauty Rose Gold palette. I looked for the Desert Dusk palette EVERYWHERE which of course was out of stock in every single Sephora in my city. Her Rose Gold palette though is amazing so I'm not disappointed in my purchase.

I decided to feature my two favorite gifts from my family.
The first being the Morphe Copper Spice palette and the second being an ELF contour palette & brush.
I've never tried anything from Morphe but have seen some gorgeous looks created with it so I can't wait to dig in and get those creative juices flowing. ELF for me has always been a hit or miss brand but the contour brush included in this is perfectly shaped and is incredibly soft. I will be sure to update you guys once I use it!

What did you guys get for Christmas?

Tarte Wish List

Tarte Wish List

Hello loves!

I'm on a bit of a no buy at the moment as I want to save up so I can get you guys something you really want for my first ever giveaway. Please leave me a comment with some giveaway suggestions down below because it's for you guys so I want it to be something special!

Although I'm on a no buy I decided to create a wish list of Tarte products I'm lusting after. I've used very little from Tarte but the more of their products I see the more interested in the brand I've become.

Tarte Tartelette In Bloom Palette - I own the original Tartelette palette which is all mattes. This one has a variety of shimmer & matte shades making it more versatile. I love the tutorials I've seen with this palette and think it would be a great addition to my collection.

Drink of H20 Moisturizer - I'm always on the hunt for a new moisturizer as I've yet to find the perfect one for my skin.

Tartiest Pro Amazonian Clay Palette - Most of Tarte's palettes are neutral shades so it's nice to see one that includes some color. I've seen many mixed reviews on this but I'd still really love to get my hands on it to try it for myself.

Shape Tape - The hype has gotten through to me for this particular product. Everyone in the beauty world has been raving about this. It looks like it has incredible coverage that takes little product to achieve.

Rainforest of the Sea Water Foundation -  the whole concept of water based foundations has been something I've wanted to try for a while but just haven't got around to doing yet.

Make Believe in Yourself Brush Set - Are these not the cutest brushes you've ever laid eyes on? What girl doesn't want a unicorn themed brush set? Not to mention the colors!

Limited Edition Lip Paint in Festival - Anyone who knows me knows I can't go a day without some sort of lip product and Festival looks like the perfect every day nude.

Amazonian Clay 12 Hr Blush - I've heard nothing but amazing things about these blushes and I'm most certainly going to pick one up soon!

Spellbound Glow Rainbow Highlighter - I'm honestly not sure if I could pull of a rainbow highlighter but I'd most certainly like to experiment with one.

Skin Twinkle Lighting Palette Volume 2 - I really like the looks of this palette. I'm always looking for that goddess glow. This does look like it might be more subtle but I'm still open to trying it. Who knows maybe on my pale skin it will really give me that intense highlight I love oh so much.

What products from Tarte do you recommend? & don't forget to leave a giveaway suggestion!
