Kat Von D - Metal Matte

Oh hello loves.

I apologize for the lack of posts lately, life is really getting in the way of things these days.
Today's post is featuring one of my favorite palettes, albeit being limited edition I still wanted to share my thoughts.
This was the 2016 Christmas palette from Kat Von D, the Metal Matte.

I've tried a few items from Kat Von D some being rather disappointing and others exceeding my expectations.

The packaging design is stunning on this just as it is with all her other products. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Kat creates the designs for all her products, What I love about this is that if read one way the palette says metal but flip it around and it says matte which I thought was an incredibly cool concept!

 The palette includes 22 eye shadows, 9 in Kat's popular Metal Crush formula and 13 mattes.
This is by far the largest palette I own but for the amount of product you get I think it's fairly priced.

The color scheme includes pops of colors & neutrals, it's a well rounded palette.

I'd never tried the Kat Von D Metal Crush shadows but after first use I was in love. They are soft, extremely pigmented and easy to blend. My favorite shimmers in the palette are Ignite, Twinkle & Glitz.
Some of the mattes swatched quite patchy but overall most of them were pigmented and blended well. They are incredibly powdery but this has never deterred me as all you need to do is tap off the excess from your brush before application. The mattes I found hardest to apply were Jet and Stone both darker colors. Stone, although a lovely color I found to be the most difficult shade to work with. When blending it becomes patchy and the color completely fades away in some spots.

{Top to bottom: Nebula, Watt, Ignite, Tinsel, Glitz, Twinkle}

{top to bottom: Tinsel, Glitz, Twinkle, Volt, Synergy & Flash}

{top to bottom: Linen, Jet, Velour, Stone, Moss, Ribbon & Silk}

{top to bottom: Fringe, Feather, Oak, Suede, Bone & Velvet}

I'm happy I got my hands on this while it was still available and I'm sorry for posting this after it was no longer available but I had to share my thoughts on it!

What's your go to palette at the moment?

TOP 3 - Eyeshadow Palettes

Hello loves!

I wanted to share my Top 3 eye shadow palettes (for the moment). We all love eye shadow and I love seeing what palettes other people love so I thought why not share my current favorites.

ABH Modern Renaissance - This was my favorite palette not just for this moment but of 2016. The color scheme is romantic and can create so many different looks. The shades albeit being powdery are pigmented and blend out gorgeously. I've yet to try an Anastasia product that I was disappointed in. If you haven't tried this it is part of her permanent range and I highly suggest you pick it up if you're a lover of these shades. I can't ever recall seeing a negative review for this beauty.

Too Faced's Sweet Peach - I'm so glad they re-released this because I was never able to pick it up the first time around. The smell is strong and smells more like chemicals than peaches to me. It's so sweet that it almost makes me nauseous. I can look past this though because again the colors in this are gorgeous, pigmented and blend well. My favorite shade would be Luscious and I love the added pop of green and purple giving it some added color to an otherwise neutral toned palette.

Kat Von D Metal Matte (No longer available) - I couldn't get a decent shot of this this morning to save my life even though I had no problems with the other two. Besides that this was a limited edition palette that was released this past Christmas and I'm so happy I got my hands on it. It was quite expensive but Kat's shadows are wonderful. There are a few in here that don't blend as well as the others but overall they are great. Be warned though they are very pigmented so be sure to use a light hand. The shimmers are a-m-a-z-i-n-g. Ignite, Twinkle and Tinsel are my favorites.

What is your current favorite palette?

Mini Haul

Hello again.
It's just going to be a quick post today. I came into some of my Christmas money earlier than expected so of course I headed to the mall for a little treat yo'self.

I thought the limited edition Metal Matte palette by Kat Von D was long gone and sold out every where but no. As I was perusing through Sephora low and behold they had two left so I snatched one up immediately. This was a pretty pricey palette but it's HUGE. I'd say it's about double the size of any other palette I own and  it will take me eons to hit pan on any of these shades.  So far I've only used two of the neutral shades (Oak & Sabre) but I'm itching to get a full review up as soon as possible for you guys!

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Kat Von D designs all her own packaging as well and this one is extremely well done and very cool. When you flip the palette upside down it says matte but when flipped the other way it says metal which I thought was a very funky and unique design.

These colors though, I'm drooling over here. There is a great selection of color and neutrals which I really like because with most other brands their palettes always consist of only neutrals or only colors so I love that Kat Von D has incorporated both making this really the only palette you'd need if you were say to travel and the mirror is huge if you like to use palette mirrors. I never do but it's nice to have if I end up needing it.
You're getting 13 matte shades & nine shimmers as well so an outstanding variety!

The next two items were from H&M.
I grabbed a pair of leggings with sheer paneling, which I completely bought in the wrong season but oh well. I'm excited for the weather to warm up so I can wear these babies.  The last item I purchased was just a flannel shirt, I think these are a great layering piece and while trying to find an outfit last week I noticed that I had given away all my plaid shirts and I think it's one of those staple wardrobe items so I picked up a new one.

Life Lately #1

Hello everyone!
It's been a long month for me and I want to apologize for my lack of updates recently. With Christmas around the corner, I've been running my butt back and forth to the city for presents and family visits and everything else. It's been hectic the last week or so and will continue to be so until Christmas so I won't be posting much until January and I wanted to let you guys know that I'm still here!

Just a few days ago we managed to get the time together to decorate our tree and I think it turned out wonderful. You guys, in four and a half years together this is the first year we've had a Christmas tree. He's a bit of a grinch but he's slowly getting there, haha.
The photo above is my attempt at getting a nice picture with him and our dog Luna (who wouldn't look at the camera no matter what)

Of course, when you go Christmas shopping you always run into the exclusive limited edition sets at Sephora and last night I came across the ever hyped Kat Von D Metal Matte palette which of course I purchased for myself, more on that soon though.

I hope you all have lovely holidays and a Happy New Year!

♥
