Elf - Fairy Dust

Hello loves.

Has anyone else noticed how little products and brands have been spoken about lately?
With all the drama in the beauty community during the past two weeks what we originally loved talking about has been pushed aside as influencers have all begun publishing videos about their "truths."
Honestly, I don't even know where all this has stemmed from but I try not to read too much into it because if you don't like a certain person, don't follow them, don't support them and certainly don't go leaving hateful comments. There's no need to bash people.

Now, let's get back to makeup shall we?
Oh, Elf. I have such a love/hate relationship with this brand. The good products are excellent but the bad well they're disasters. Unfortunately, this nail polish is taking a trip to the trash. The formula is so thick that it never dries down and you have to layer it so much for any of the sparkles to show up. Last night, I sat and watched Weeds for a good hour letting this dry and as soon as I went to do anything the whole nail got destroyed. The polish moved around leaving huge clumps on the nail bed. There was no way to salvage the horror movie that was my nails last night, so it immediately got removed.

What's the worst product you've tried?

Olay - Age Defying Eye Gel

Hello loves.

Alright, who isn't looking for a miracle cure for those pesky wrinkles and dark circles on the under eye area?
I've yet to find one and this one from Olay was another dissappointment. I've been using it for just over two weeks and have noticed almost nothing albeit a subtle difference in the way my makeup sits on that area. I'm currently using the Rimmel London Lasting Finish Foundation which is extremely drying and has caused severe creasing on the under eyes. After using this cream my makeup no longer seems to crease as badly into my fine lines but that is the ONLY thing I've noticed this has helped. There was no change in my dark circles or the fine wrinkles that signify the beginning of my aging! If any of you can recommend me an eye cream that won't break the bank, I would really appreciate it!

How do you combat the aging process?

What to Watch on Netflix - #1

Hello loves!
I want to start a little mini series here on the blog called what to watch on Netlfix. It will include old and new items. I'm constantly searching for things to watch so I thought I'd help some of you out who might be in the same position. This time around I've included a lot of popular titles but for those of you who maybe haven't seen them I highly recommend giving them a watch.

First up, Weeds. I've watched the first few seasons multiple times. Recently though I've taken the time to sit down and watch all seasons thoroughly. I just started season 8 which is the last season and it's exciting. I don't want to say too much as I'll give it away but give it a cheeky watch!

Sisters is hands down one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are a comedic duo.

Another comedy and a great one at that. Peter Dinklage is A+ in this one.

Neighbors. I'm sure almost everyone has watched this. Put Zac Efron in anything and I'll give it a watch. Super funny which is to expected with anything Seth Rogen stars in.

I honestly didn't mean to put so many comedies in this list but aside from Horror I guess comedy is my next favorite genre. Another classic comedy that yes I'm sure most people have seen but if you're in the 1% that hasn't please do. If you're feeling down I promise this movie will fill you with laughs.

Archer.
Why did it take me so long to watch this? Everyone kept telling me it was hilarious and I just kept pushing it to the side but I'm glad I finally joined the party because this show is hilarious. If you don't like vulgar humor though it's not one for you.

What do you guys recommend on Netflix?

Neutrogena Nourishing Naturals Multi Vitamin Moisturizer

Hello loves.

I'm here today with an empty product. To be honest this post should have been done when I originally finished this and to say it's been a month or so is an understatement (oops)

I was totally underwhelmed by this. I didn't expect miracles but I expected something. This didn't deliver any moisture, in fact I found it to be slightly drying on my skin. I don't know why I went into this expecting so much but maybe that could be the cause of why I was so let down when it didn't perform. I do appreciate that it's a cruelty free product but for it supposedly being fragrance free it sure does have a strong aroma to it.

I wouldn't purchase this again. I've never had a great experience with any Neutrogena product. I don't know why but this is one of many products by them I've tested that I haven't enjoyed.

Do you guys like Neutrogena as a brand?

Tarte 4-in-1 Marine Boosting Mist

Hello loves.

I've just started dipping my toe into the world of Tarte. I've owned the Tartelette palette for awhile but up until now that was it. If I'm being honest, it never blew me away. Back in June I got a Sephora gift card and had been eyeing up Tarte and saw the Hydrate, Glow and Illuminate Essentials pack which included this, a lip balm and the first Skin Twinkle Highlighting Palette. Originally I was going to pick up the second Skin Twinkle palette but the last two shades in the palette were far too dark for my pale skin so $52 CAD seemed ridiculous when I could only get use out of half the palette.

I've always been intrigued by Tarte as they have quite a large skincare range against their makeup range. This is a "multipurpose" setting spray, It primes, sets, hydrates and locks in makeup. It's supposed to help smooth any fine lines, wrinkles and reduce the appearance of pores. On top of  makeup I hated this, it was extremely tacky and didn't seem to dry down. I use it the way the bottle says to do which is to apply after applying moisturizer which has changed my makeup game. The current foundation/concealer combo I'm using leaves me with dry, cakey under eyes and I believe it's the foundation (Rimmel Lasting Finish) as I've used the concealer (Maybelline Fit Me) under other foundations with no issues. I apply my Glam Glow moisturiser, spray this on top and finish applying my makeup. It has certainly smoothed out the fine lines underneath my eyes and has actually managed to lock the foundation on my nose in place! That alone is reason enough to give it five stars. As for minimizing the look of pores I haven't noticed any difference there. There are a lot of reviews saying the pump gets sticky and sprays in a strong jet, I've had no issues there but maybe it's due to mine being a mini?

What's your favorite Tarte product?

Katy Kat Gloss

Hello loves!
Anyone who knows me knows I prefer a matte look over a glossy one any day of the week. It's almost shocking that on my last trip to the drug store I popped out with one of the new (at the time) Covergirl Katy Kat glosses.

The shade I picked up was "Catnip." I'd say this is almost an exact dupe for MAC's matte lipstick in Heroine but glossy. I love purples and was extremely surprised by how thick and pigmented the formula was. It dries down and leaves a lasting color behind. To me this is more of a lipstick than a gloss. It applies evenly and leaves a beautiful almost matte stain which lasts for hours and doesn't leave your lips parched as a normal liquid lipstick would.
I was pleasantly surprised by this and will be picking up more shades in the future!

Maybelline's Master Camo

 Hello loves.

It's about to be a very hot week here in Alberta and although my house is practically an oven in the summer, I'm so excited. I love the heat.

I meant to write this post up when these were newly released but it's been a hectic year for me with family deaths, my job etc.

I don't color correct every day. For me, it's an extra step that I don't feel I need when I'm just headed to work. For an event though it's nice to have that extra coverage for those pesky dark circles.
I picked up the pink and orange. The pink is for dull skin and the apricot is for you guessed it, dark circles.

The pink one did nothing for me and if I'm being honest was a complete waste of money. The reason there's no swatches here is due to the fact that I'd already used it up.

The above photos show a swatch, then blended in and the last photo is after applying a layer of concealer on top. As you can see it doesn't completely cover my veins but I only used a light hand with the concealer. On the under eyes it's buildable but can crease easily if too much concealer is applied so beware of that. Overall, it did an okay job. In the future I'd look for other products though as this was my first step into the color correcting world.

What do you use to color correct?
