Product Regret | The WORST BB Cream

Oh hello loves.

This post is nothing like my regular content and I almost feel bad enough that I don't want to publish it but on the other hand I don't want any poor unfortunate soul picking this up.

The Loreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream in Light.
Where do I even begin with this product?

When it first comes out of the tube it's a thin white liquid but as you start rubbing it into your skin it oxidizes immediately! I'm not talking a little oxidization here I'm talking full blown orange.

In the above photo you can see that it looks like a normal face cream and here you can CLEARLY see the line of where I've rubbed it in. The first time I went to use this on my face the moment I saw the orange I immediately washed it off. It turned me so orange that I could be could have been cast as an oompa loompa.
It looked so horrendous that I couldn't even bear to give it a proper testing by trying it out on my face. This color is supposed to be light I can only imagine what the other tones look like.
There are so many good reviews on this and I just don't understand how it could possibly receive such high ratings?

If you've tried it and had a good experience, please let me know!

Ready, Set, Gorgeous!

Are you ready, set, gorgeous?
COVERIGIRL'S Ready, Set, Gorgeous liquid foundation was the latest foundation I picked up in store as I had just recently ran out.
I've been using this for quite some time and I can't say I enjoyed it...of course, I'll continue to use it as I can't stand to waste product.

It's oil free which should have been a tip off that I wouldn't like it as I suffer with dry skin. Mind you I have tried other oil-free foundations that worked fine. It wasn't that this didn't work for it's purpose but it didn't work for me. This is supposedly billed for people with combination-oily skin of which I am neither.

I picked up shade 110 - Natural Ivory which is the second lightest shade in the range. It blends beautifully into the skin as you can see from above. In a few hours though I will have a large orange patch on the back of my hand, this oxidizes like no other foundation I've tried and no one wants to walk around looking like one of Willy Wonka's Oompa Loompas. I've had a couple of breakouts while using this foundation and I'm not normally one to break out ever but even when I stopped wearing it for a week I still got a breakout so I don't believe this had anything to do with it.
It leaves a semi-matte natural finish on the skin and although it's a more mattifying foundation then I'm used to it did sit on my skin nicely with no clings to my various dry patches.
It wasn't a horrible foundation but the biggest con and the only reason I wouldn't purchase it again is the oxidization. I'm sorry but I like my skin to be it's natural ivory white not a burnt orange.

Have you tried the Ready, Set, Gorgeous line? What are your thoughts?

E.L.F. Dual Ended Concealer/Highlighter

I don't know about you guys but I love the idea of multiple products in one as I don't have a vast amount of storage space to accomadate my makeup addiction so products like these draw my eye.

This is the E.L.F. cosmetics highlighter and concealer wand. I have a strong love/hate relationship with this product because the concealer is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G, the highlight was honestly disappointing.

First off I know with E.L.F. there is a lot of hit and miss products because they're such an affordable brand but I have purchased a lot of items from E.L.F. and there has only been two products I've been upset with which was this which to me isn't a total miss because I love the concealer end. My other product disappointment was a concealer pencil with a built in sharpener that I went to use and on first use the pencil broke and got stuck in the sharpener making the rest of it unusable so into the garbage that went. On to my thoughts about this...

Concealer: I could rave about this concealer for days, if anyone knows if this is made separately please let me know because I would purchase a million more! This is fantastic for brightening in the under eye area although for total coverage if you have very dark circles it will require some building up. I mostly use this to brighten up certain areas of my face because I think it performs better as a brightening concealer then one for coverage although it is buildable but anything can look cakey if too much products used. I use it under/around my nose, my chin, forehead and under eye area. Goes on flawlessly, blends into the skin like a dream. For $6 CAD you can't go wrong with this, I might even purchase another one when this runs out as I love the concealer that much.

Highlighter: The one good point I have to say about this is for people who like a subtle highlight you may like this. I'm one of those people who want my highlight seen from space, haha. So for me I don't use this at all it could work to brighten up or skin if you mixed it with foundation which I didn't think of doing until just now so I might give it another go using it that way but as far as a stand alone highlight this did nothing for me. As you can see from the swatch it doesn't have shimmer to it so it's a matte liquid highlighter and when it sets there's really nothing there. I don't even think this should be classified as a highlight...

Please, please, please if anyone has a good concealer recommendation from e.l.f let me know because I had nothing but love for the concealer portion of this wand!

GOSH - Repair N' Shine

Hello everyone.

Today's post as you can guess is a continuance of yesterday's in a way.

Yesterday I blogged about the "Climate Control" line by Tresemme and how it has COMPLETELY stripped my hair of moisture leaving a dry and horrible mess. I've had this GOSH hair serum sitting around in my cupboard for a while but never really used it much. The past couple weeks my poor hair has been needing TLC so I though instead of going out and buying something why not use what I already have. I got this at Shopper's Drug Mart a while back and unfortunately don't remember how much it was.
\
The directions say to use 2-3 pumps in your palm, rub together and smooth through your hair. 2 - 3 pumps barely covered my hands so I used and extra pump or two and then it combed it through.
I love that the nozzle is a pump as most hair serums the only thing I don't like about pumps is you can never get the product at the bottom completely out. The serum is clear and it has a weird almost chemical smell to it? It's odd there's not a real way of describing it, it doesn't smell nice let's just say that.

This was just as disappointing as the shampoo/conditioner....
The serum doesn't seem to absorb in your hair or dry it just stays almost like a grease in your hair and makes it look very oily nor has it helped repair any damage. It hasn't done any more damage but it certainly isn't. I have to say this was a BIG product regret for me!

What are your hair product regrets?

Tresemme Climate Control

The TRESemmé Climate Control system, with our unique Climate Control Complex®, gently cleanses and moisturizes hair while controlling frizz. This advanced hair protection system leaves hair shiny, soft and manageable. Take control of your hair with the TRESemmé Climate Control system and face weather head on.

I love Tresemme as a brand, they are reasonably priced and for the size of the bottles you cannot get a better bargain, I dare you to try. I love to try different shampoos/conditioners! I've yet to find a holy grail however, to be honest I haven't even really found one I love yet. No reason as to why I picked these I just happened upon them on the drugstore and I've never tried the "Climate Control" line before but I know that Tresemme has never let me down.

I find that hair brands tend to have very large claims about their products but rarely live up to them. This time I'm disappointed to say I didn't like this in the slightest.

First, the claims it lives up to; controlling frizz, shiny hair

Claims that didn't make the grade; soft and moisturized

This duo made my hair well not my hair my ENDS so dried out, weak and brittle. Now I've never had the most moisturized hair BUT my ends have never been this dry in my life. At first I thought they might have been dead but I recently went and got a cut and of course they were nice out of the hairdresser but once I got home and the next time I showered using this duo they were once again extremely dry. I am not looking for a shampoo that is going to completely strip my hair of moisture.Yes it holds up to it's climate control claim maybe a little to well though as its to the point where it blocks out humidity and moisture a little too well and strips it right out of your hair.  That was my biggest gripe with this line and unfortunately I will not purchase it again because its only damaging my hair. I hate to say this is the only time I'm disappointed I got such big bottles.

Have you tried the Climate Control line, thoughts?\

* KISS - Instawave

Hey loves!

I'm sure you've all heard about automatic curlers well this is not one the greats....I received this for free from Brandbacker.

The Kiss Instawave automatic hair curler.
I have very mixed feelings about this, let me start by saying when I got this I looked and the first thought in my mind was; "How do I use this thing?" The video below is not mine but shows you how to use it; She makes it look easy to use but I every time I tried to put my hair in it would get caught and tangled and just turned into a disaster probably an operator error honestly but I could not get the hang of it.

I do like that you can rotate the curls either inward or outward! I believe this retails for about $60 in Target, very decently priced compared to other automatic curlers I've seen on the market. For my fine hair though when I did finally get it to work it made really beautiful waves I wouldn't say curls but that is a fault of my fine hair as curls tend to fall out anyways.

Honestly, I wouldn't have purchased this myself it is nice to have for certain things but not part of my everyday routine.

Finding the right product...

Does anyone else ever feel like there's always that one product that you can never to seem to find the "Holy Grail" for?
Mine is hairspray, I have very fine hair and it's impossible to get it to hold a style and I am not joking. Today I curled my hair and I used about a quarter of a can of hairspray...and it still fell out within a couple of hours. Fine hair problems, the struggle is real.

I currently use Aussie but I switch just about every month as I replace it often, haha.
It's okay, doesn't really seem to hold my style to well and makes the hair crunchy to the feel and creates a crunchy look as well, who wants that?
I have been struggling for years trying to find the right hairspray and it hasn't happened yet so I turn to you internet in hopes that someone can give me some suggestions!

If anyone knows of a good hairspray PLEASE let me know what you use?

=)

E m p t i e s

Hey everyone! I've got some empties to share with you tonight, I am not one for having many empty products at the end of the month but I did have a few so I thought why not share? Well that is if you guys are interested in seeing what I use....haha.

I'll start with the one that's not in the photo which is Inecto coconut face wipes. They were just a cheap drugstore product I posted a review not too long ago on them. I LOVE wipes mostly because I'm far too lazy to have a face regimen.

On deck next is Maybelline Master precise felt tip liner, this stuff makes the most inept person be able to do the most glamorous winged eye.

Bath & Body Works Warm Vanilla Sugar body lotion, I have quite the B&B obsession right now actually just bought the most wonderful smelling candle there the other day. It's called Apple Flower, seriously go smell it.

Tresemme hair spray and Nivea's Happy Time body wash. I don't have much to say about the hairspray I posted a review last month. The body wash, I will not lie to you guys I mostly bought this because of the name BUT not only that it smells like oranges and makes your whole bathroom a scent sauna its fabulous really and cheap, so killed two birds with one stone there.

As you see I do not really go through a lot of products but just wanted to show you the ones I have used all up recently.

What have you guys used up lately, let me know in a comment!

John Frieda - Sleek Finish Hair Straightener

Hey everyone!
Today I have a straightener review, I'm a girl already some pretty pin straight hair to be honest but I like to use this on my bangs as they seem to curve to my face which is extremely frustrating.
I got this for free using Air Miles points but it retails for about $50-60 CAD depending on the store. You can find it just about any big store (Target/ Wal-Mart /Best Buy)
I only have one gripe with this straightener and it's the location of the buttons. As you can see in the above photo the buttons are located right where your hand holds the straightener and they are extremely sensitive. When holding it one minute it might be 155 F the next it will be 195 F.
Aside from the buttons this straightener works great and it's cheap.

Blistex Lip Medex - Holy Grail Product

image

Blistex Lip Medex - Holy Grail Product

Oh hello again, so I meant to do this post a while ago and I wanted to use my own photo unfortunately I’ve lost the charger for my Nikon so until it is found no personal photos. I’ve been using this product for YEARS. I live in Calgary and the weather here is usually not the greatest. It’s extremely dry and windy meaning chapped lips almost year round. The lip medex pictured above is a jelly like substance, it’s very thick. This can be bought in a chap stick and tube as well, although in my opinion this ones number one, the chapstick leaves a yellow residue on the lips. Use very little when applying this as it is so thick, the lasting power on this is hours long so you’re not constantly applying. I don’t go anywhere for this and I’ve never had chapped lips since. This is a can’t live without product.
