Garnier Moisture Rescue

Good morning loves.

Usually winter means dry skin for most people but for me, dry skin is a year round problem.
I'm constantly trying out different moisturizers and facial oils to bring back some moisture. The only problem, I still haven't found the perfect one.

I picked up the Garnier Moisture Rescue as it was on sale at Shopper's and other moisturizer's I've picked up from Garnier have worked well, albeit not well enough. The packaging is quite nice for how affordable this is. It's housed in a hefty glass jar with a simple white lid, sleek and simple, though not the most sanitary way to package something as you're constantly dipping your fingers into the product. I do prefer pumps.

It's a gel like texture and when applied soaks right into the skin and leaves a nice cooling sensation. Although it's marketed for dry skin I'd say it's too lightweight for actual dry skin. I don't find the moisture long lasting enough for my poor parched skin.  The hunt continues.

Anyone else suffer with dry skin? What do you recommend?

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipsticks

{Swatches (left to right): Dusty Rose, Let's Get Naked, Mayfair Red Lady, Nude Delight}

Hello loves!

It's a beautiful day! The sun is shining brighter than ever and roasting me through my office window, not that I'm about to complain after the seven months of winter we had.

Long time readers know I'm a total lip product junkie. From creams, to liquids to bullets to glosses and everything in between. It's disgusting how many I own, no normal human being needs 80+ lipsticks but I don't care. In fact I keep a rotation to make sure each and every one is getting some use and once I decide I no longer like it I usually pass them down to my little sister.

The Rimmel Moisture Renew lipsticks aren't a normal formula I'd go for. I prefer a matte but these were on sale at my local drug store for super cheap so I figured there was no harm in giving them a shot. I picked up four. They are pigmented with a creamy finish. Due to the creaminess you do have to reapply these often which is a pain but the lighter ones are no hassle to apply like Nude Delight. Mayfair Red Lady on the other hand is such a pain for application, it's certainly not an on the go type of lipstick. Creamy reds are always a dangerous game as they slip outside the lip line and often end up on the teeth. Who wants that? The nudes in this collection are easy and comfortable to wear.
For me, these are too creamy. If I were to pick more up I'd go for the lighter shades because then you're not constantly worried that you're going to look like a little kid with kool aid smudged all around your mouth.

What do you guys think of the Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipsticks?

*Hello Flavor - BBQ Box

Hello loves!

I'm living for the hot weather we've been having lately, I love summer! (Who doesn't?)
Influenster teamed up with Hello Flavor to curate a BBQ Essentials box, perfect for the summer season.

Ok, I'll admit it I don't actually have any propane for my BBQ at the moment (oops) so I made my burger boring old stove top style. There were four items in the box.

Club House Flavor Packet (Bourbon & Brown Sugar) Not Pictured

I'm not one for Bourbon as I find it to be an extremely overpowering flavor so I didn't have high hopes going into this. I was pleasantly surprised! I made my patty then coated it in the mixture to grill it. The brown sugar gave it a very sweet flavor while the bourbon gave it a subtle kick. It was a lovely balanced spice and I'm definitely interested in trying the other flavors on offer!

Club House La Grille Spicy Montreal Steak Spice

We've all tried the original Montreal Steak Spice but I won't ever be going back to it after trying the spiced up version. This stuff is bomb, not as spicy as my beloved Sriracha however but if you're looking for that extra something give this a go.

Frank's Red Hot Sauce

I'm sorry Franks but Sriracha will always be number one. To me Frank's just doesn't provide enough hotness.

 French's Mustard/Ketchup

French's, you will never be able to compete with my love of Heinz Ketchup. I'm a brand snob when it comes to condiments. Peanut Butter, butter, ketchup, hot sauce you name it, I have a brand that I love and I very rarely stray. Sorry but not really.

*These products were sent to me for free in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.*

How do you like to make your summer meals?

Summer Bucket List

Good afternoon loves!

Summer's pretty much here and I'm determined to make the most of it this year. I found this cute Summer Bucket List on pinterest, originally created by Tastebud Travels
I've already checked off the things that I've done this year (the parts I've considered to be summer anyways) and will keep it updated. My goal is to accomplish as much from this list as I can!

What are your summer plans?

morphe - Copper Spice

Hello loves!
Being a Canadian, I despise online shopping due to the outrageous shipping charges. Morphe has always been one of those brands I just couldn't bring myself to order from. Before Christmas my mom and I were in a store called Showcase (selling TV/infomercial items) and low and behold I glanced over and there was a stand full of Morphe products! My lovely mother grabbed me the Copper Spice palette for Christmas and would you believe I'm just getting around to using it now?!

There are 25 shades in mattes and shimmers, the color scheme is a neutral lovers dream.
This is the perfect palette for those who work in an office environment and are looking for something simple and easy to wear. Upon application there is virtually no fall out and the mattes and shimmers are all pigmented and apply like a dream. I had no trouble blending these out, they blended smoothly together with minimal effort. They wore extremely well through my eight hour work day with no creasing. I think this might be the only palette I've used that hasn't creased within 8 hours and that was with a primer underneath. I'm curious to try these out with no primer to see if they work as well.
At $29.99 CAD for twenty five shadows, you can't go wrong. Well, unless you're a color lover...but for us neutral fans you will not be disappointed.

What's your favorite Morphe palette?

Covergirl Vitalist Elixir

Good morning loves!

The Healthy Vitalist Elixir Foundation is the newest release from Covergirl.
It claims to be a hydrating formula with buildable coverage. I purchased mine in the lightest shade (605 Ivory) which is still too dark for me and it does oxidize throughout the day on top of that, pale people beware.
I bought this because RawBeautyKristi raved about it and while I do like the finish I wish they would release more shades.
While it claims to be hydrating I'd say it's more of a natural matte finish, it doesn't completely suck the moisture out of your skin but it certainly doesn't leave you with that dewy glow either. It wore well everywhere except my nose. I cannot for the life of me find a foundation that doesn't break up on the nose so if anyone has any recommendations please leave a comment! It sits well on the top of the skin and can be built to full coverage if needed without looking too cakey.
I prefer a more dewy foundation for the summer but would certainly look into purchasing this again in the winter months.

What's your go-to foundation for summer?

Favorite Book Series

Hello loves!

I have a different sort of post to share with you today. I wanted to share my favorite book series with you all, Harry Potter.
Harry Potter holds a special place in my heart. I've never loved another series quite as much as this.
My best friends and I have obsessed over Harry since the beginning right until the bittersweet end.
We read all the books multiple times, went to the midnight movie premieres and even dressed up for a few of them. I can remember us sitting in the second half of the last film and just sobbing throughout the entire movie. Sad, because a special piece of our childhood was over. There were no other movies or books to look forward to. Yes, after a year or two Fantastic Beasts was released as well as Harry Potter: The Cursed Child but it just wasn't the same original magic that drew me in in the beginning. (that's not to say I didn't watch the other films or read the other books)
I'm planning to get a Harry Potter tattoo soon as it's something I always have and always will hold close to me. The books kept me up late at night as I couldn't be bothered to put them down and I cried hours worth of tears as J.K. Rowling proceeded to kill my favorite characters throughout different books. Don't worry no spoilers here for people who may not have read them yet.
If you haven't read them (have you been living under a rock?) and you're a fantasy lover I HIGHLY recommend you check them out. J.K. Rowling did a wonderful job weaving a magical world that will suck you right in and make you feel as if you yourself are right there beside the characters.

What's your favorite book and why?

My take on gothic makeup. I know how cliche of me to use black lipstick but come on? Does it not just scream goth?

Chanelling my inner grunge goddess. Can we please bring back the 90's makeup?

Dewy bronze eye look. (It looks like I was crying but I just have extremely watery eyes)

Me and my tiny little hair bun. Oh, the joys of thin hair.

Before and after photo.

Rainbow look inspired by @mmmmitchell. It looks absolutely nothing like the photo I was trying to recreate but I still ended up loving it.
