Tarte Tartelette

Good morning loves.

I was met with some sad news this weekend, another family member of mine has passed away. This is the second one in only three months, it's been a tough year for my family and I.

Of course, I don't want to dwell on it so to keep me occupied I thought I'd write a review for you all on the Tarte, Tartelette palette. A natural all matte palette housing twelve shades. You may notice I'm missing one. While doing my makeup one morning this crashed to the ground, luckily enough though the only shade that crumbled out was the matte black which I have in almost every other palette so I wasn't too heart broken!
These shades swatch terribly but perform like a dream on the eyes. They are silky, pigmented and blend well, the only shade I have a problem blending is the dark purple. I don't use this palette too much as I find it kind of boring. Most of the shades are too similar for my liking as you can see in the swatches. It doesn't feed my creativity, I find that most looks I try to create with this end looking the same which isn't what I look for in a palette. If you need an easy to wear palette however this would be perfect as it does create simple, professional looks for a work environment.

What's your favorite Tarte palette?

Essence Full Coverage Camoflauge Concealer

Hello loves.

I recently ran out of my current favorite concealer, Maybelline's Fit Me. So off to the store I went. I've put myself on a budget as of late meaning I needed a more affordable concealer than the Fit Me, which retails at about $10.99 CAD.
Essence has always been a super affordable brand that if I'm honest I often overlook. They had a display set up show casing many of their new releases, this being one of them.
When I first swatched it on my hand I was amazed and how thick and heavy it felt. On first application though, I found it to blend easily but it left you with more of a medium coverage than full.
I was looking to use it for my under eye area but it certainly doesn't cover enough for that use also while it doesn't crease it looks quite dry on the under eye. For concealing other areas of the face though it works wonderfully! Blends out beautifully and doesn't crease or cake and is an absolute bargain at $4.99 CAD.

What concealer do you use for your under eyes?

Ro's Argan Body Conditioner

Oh, hello loves.

Lush has done it again, I've found yet another product I've fallen head over heels for. The Ro's Argan body conditioner is a thick. creamy lotion that melts into your skin making it unbelievably soft and smooth.
The scent while strong in the tub is more subtle when applied on the body. You'll smell like vanilla and roses throughout the day though so for those of you floral scent haters maybe steer clear of this.
Albeit being such a thick lotion I don't find it to leave a greasy film after using. Lush's website says to use on damp skin but I like to apply after towel drying so my skin can really drink it in.

Lush, you had me at hello and I 've yet to be disappointed in your products.

What do you guys recommend from Lush?

Rub Rub Rub in the tub

Good morning loves!

If you don't know the brand Lush, where have you been? All products are handmade with ingredients that are ethically bought and they're against animal testing!

I've never been a big fan of exfoliating until lately. I always thought exfoliation was just a hyped up process and that it didn't provide any real benefits to the skin.
Rub, Rub Rub is a nice mild body scrub. Before using this you do need mix the product as I found the liquid and the salt particles separated. The salt is very fine leaving you with subtle but noticeably softer skin as it exfoliates the dead skin cells away. The scent is wonderful too although it doesn't linger long. Salt can be a bad ingredient for those of us with dry skin as it can tend to dry us out more but I found this scrub to be hydrating enough. I had no irritation, dryness or redness. If you want a tougher exfoliant, I'd recommend the Ocean Salt scrub.

I plan to keep this on rotation for the next little bit and might even sneak in a repurchase!

What do you to exfoliate your body?

Mini Brand Review - ABH

Good morning loves.

I know this is an awfully small brand collection compared to others but I feel I've tried enough to give my overall thoughts on one of the most popular brands to date, Anastasia Beverly Hills.

Albeit my tiny collection ABH has quickly become one of my favorite brands. Every product I've tried to date I've loved and I don't think anyone could go wrong with purchasing their products.

Despite the Subculture drama, while I didn't love it I certainly didn't hate it. There was way more negativity surrounding this than I think was necessary and it was beginning to feel like hating it was becoming a "bandwagon" if you will. I have a post comparing the Modern Renaissance to Subculture that you can read here. Do I even have to mention that M.R. is still my most used palette? If you follow me on Instagram (Briannarue) you'll see me raving about it constantly, I mean it's perfection.

Although I only own one glow kit I've used some of the others and they are amazing. The powders are finely milled and blend effortlessly. My full thoughts on the N.G. one, here.

ABH has accomplished the unbelievable. I hate lip gloss, I really do but they're formula is unlike most. While thick, it's so pigmented and doesn't stay sticky when applied. They remind me more of a glossy lipstick. When I think gloss I think sheer, barely there wash of color. Full review here.

Their liquid lipsticks, I only own one but I'm dying to purchase more. My bank account on the other hand is crying for me to stop. Easy to wear, stunning color range and prime pigmentation. My tiny little complaint with these is I do find them just a tad more drying on the lips but nothing a bit of balm and exfoliation can't change.

ABH is a gorgeous brand with nothing but high quality products that I find to be quite affordable in the grand scheme of things. Soft Glam is next on my wish list and from what I've seen online has taken the place of Modern Renaissance as the favorite of many. It's so beautiful I don't even know if I'll be able to touch it once it's in my hnads.

What's your favorite ABH product?

TOPSHOP LIPS - Cruel

Hello loves!
I love the Topshop beauty range. Nobody really talks bout their beauty products aside from their basic lipsticks and they have so many gems.

Okay yes, this is another lip product review but it's not just a plain old bullet lipstick that we all know and love. This is the Topshop Gloss Ink in the shade "Cruel."
A stunning deep berry shade. It might technically be spring but in my world dark berry shades are always appropriate. I'd say this is a lipstick/gloss hybrid because when it dries down it's tacky but the glossiness disappears as it wears. Application is a pain with this. You have to use a lip primer otherwise you'll end up with this smudged all around the edges of your lips, not a flattering look. I recommend the Bite Beauty lip primer as it keeps it in place all day long. I don't dare wear this without a primer or you'll look like a little kid who's been sipping on grape Kool-Aid all day.
If you don't wipe the excess off the applicator it'll apply patchy and goop up in areas on the lips.
This is starting to sound like a horribly negative review but  to put it bluntly this isn't an easy to wear every day color. It takes work and precision to get that perfect lip but the color is so absolutely stunning especially on paler skin tones like myself.

If you don't mind putting forth the effort to make it work it's a lovely color.

Too Faced Wish List

TOOFACED

Good morning loves.
I'm sorry it's been so long since my last post I've just been feeling uninspired as of late.
But, I'm back with a wish list post.
Too Faced is one of my favorite brands, they have the cutest packaging on the market and most of what I've tried I've enjoyed. I know there is a lot of drama surrounding this brand but every other brand has had their share too. Drama doesn't mean bad products.

Natural Eyes Palette -  I believe this is a revamp of their original Natural Eyes Palette which has been on my wish list for a very long time.

Natural Nudes Lipstick - Although I prefer a darker lip having some nudes in your arsenal doesn't hurt, right?

Chocolate Soleil Bronzer - I love me a matte bronzer and this has been included in some large value palettes I've bought before from Too Faced and I already know I love it.

Life's A Festival Palette - At first glance I didn't care for this but after seeing swatches and looks created I'm now pining after it.

Hangover Replenishing Primer and Setting Spray - I've tried the primer before and it worked wonderfully with my dry skin so my hopes are high that this would work just as well. Plus, it smells like coconuts.

Sun Bunny Natural Bronzer - I honestly don't think there's such a thing as "too many bronzers."

Peach Kiss Moisture Lipstick - I'm a lip junkie through and through and will try ANY lip products that I've never tried. Plus the little embossed peaches on the lipstick itself are so cute!

Peach Blur Powder - A finishing powder. I'm not sure how I feel about finishing powders, I don't really see the need if I'm honest. But this has good reviews so I'm curious about the hype.

Sweet Peach Papa Don't Peach Blush - When the Sweet Peach collection was originally released this had raving reviews! A simple and easy to wear blush.

Melted Lipsticks - I only own one of these in the shade "Melted Peony" but I like the formula and would be interested in picking up a few more colors.

Glitter Bomb Palette - From what other reviewers have said you NEED the glitter primer for this to perform at it's full potential. I think it's a cool idea and would love to create some fun new looks with it.

La Creme Color Drenched Lipsticks - another lip product. Ok, I know I have a problem.

What's your favorite brand?
