Instagram Round Up #4

Hey everyone!

I'm back with an Instagram round up! I hope you all enjoy this type of post because I know I do and I want to produce content people take interest in and enjoy so let me know in the comments if you want me to continue doing these.

From top left corner - bottom right corner

Burnt Timber | AB - As a kid we used to camp as a family here every summer. At one point in time this was a National Park in Alberta however a saw mill company bought it years ago and sadly the area is not maintained any longer and many of the hiking trails they've closed off. My mom and I stopped in on our way back from a camping trip in Waiprous and while Burnt Timber is still open for cmaping year round it's not quite the same as it once was. I would love to go on a camping trip here this summer for the nostalgia alone.

My dog Luna - I truly love this beast more than anything

Ocean - This isn't my photo I was just having a serious case of some wander lust that morning.

Eye makeup - This was from this morning actually. I truly love purple tones on my eyes. Review of the palette I used here

Meme - I don't mind seeing memes pop up on others feeds once in a while and this one was too good not to share.

Leave your Instagram names below and if you feel like following me my username is Briannarue

Best of Beauty - People's Choice Awards

We all love the award shows, whether it be the more casual People's Choice Awards or the more formal event, the Oscars.
The fashion and beauty at the events are always highly talked about and with good reason. As much as I adore seeing the beautifully adorned gowns and gorgeous bold makeup looks from the Oscars red carpet the People's Choice awards are more laid back with more subtle looks although the fashion certainly is still daring.
As much as I love fashion I wanted to focus on my favorite looks of the night.
The first being the lovely Blake Lively. Anyone who knows me knows that I have a serious crush on this woman, she is stunningly beautiful. Not to mention she played my favorite character on Gossip Girl. Simple brown smokey eyes with a natural lip, simple yet fairly effective and boy is she tanned.

Of course we couldn't miss J.Lo. Again, a brown smokey eye but unlike Blake Jennifer Lopez has a more defined eye with the use of a black liner. I love how her lower lash line is smoked out with the brown. Nude lips seemed to be a running theme on a majority of the looks, but hey there's nothing wrong with that. Maybe they're saving the bold intense reds for the Oscars.

Ruby Rose, wow.
I think her makeup was by far my favorite from the night.
I'm a total sucker for bold lips, even in my day to day I'll wear the darkest red I own as I just love the look of it and this berry color she is wearing is completely vamp and it's stunning on her.
Again, brown on the eyes with black liner (most eye looks were very similar I noticed)  The dark statement lip and bold brows really set Ruby apart from the others and she rocked it.

There you have it my top three looks from the night, Ruby Rose wowed me, I can't get over how perfect she looks.

Who's beauty look held your heart?

Throwback Thursday: Collection

Raise your hand if you had some sort of collection as a child.
If you couldn't tell from the above photo, I was OBSESSED with Beanie Babies.
Seeing as it is Thursday I thought I'd do a throwback post and boy this is more of a throwback for me then you may realize.
Beanie Babies were all the rage when I was younger. Every one I knew had at least ten of these fun little guys if not more. I was on an entire different level of obsessed, these weren't toys for me these were a collectors item. I'm not kidding you guys by the time I was fourteen years old I must have had at least a hundred. I know there was bigger collections out there but every cent from my allowance money over my childhood years was spent on Beanie Babies and I displayed them proudly all over the shelves of my room.
No one was allowed to touch or play with them except me and I rarely played with them. I felt like a proud mom with the collection I'd acquired and sad but true I couldn't let go of these until I was twenty for nostalgic reasons, you know?
Does anyone happen to know if any of the older Beanie Babies are worth any money now? Boy, will I be upset if they are.

So there you have it a throwback into my childhood.

Did you collect anything as a child? What was it?

Bucket List 2017

This isn't a resolutions post for 2017 but more of a bucket list. Thing's I'd like to do and see in 2017.
2016 for me wasn't an exciting year by any means nor did I do or accomplish anything extravagant. I want this year to be different I'm sad of watching my life pass my eyes in my day to day. I work, come home and the cycle repeats, it's fairly boring. In 2017 I'm aiming to make much more of my days off. Instead of sitting on the couch I want to go out and create adventures, explore (maybe not the world) but even the areas around my own home. So here we go...my bucket list for 2017;

Go camping more this summer
Road trip across Canada - I've done this as I have family in Ontario but I've never took the time to stop and see the different hot spots throughout the provinces.
Find a new job - I'm content where I am but I'd like to find something where I can grow with the company and I unfortunately don't see that happening where I am
Volunteer - either at a pet shelter or a homeless shelter. (I'm not sure I could handle my emotions working at the animal shelter however)
Buy a camera - For blogging purposes, I'm not happy using my phone but at the moment it's all my finances will allow.
Go see a musical - I truly love musicals and would love to go see one this year.
Learn snowboarding - For years now I've wanted to learn how to snowboard, mostly because when I'm older if I injure myself I won't be able to recuperate as fast.
Skydive - I'll be honest guys...I don't know if this will get accomplished but I'd like to think I'd be brave enough to jump out of a plane.

So there you have it, some of my bucket list items for the year. I feel like most of these are in reach for me I just need to put the effort in.

What about you guys, is there anything you want to do in 2017?

Overhyped Brands - Essie

I don't know why I continue to purchase Essie's Polishes. They have a wonderful shade range, don't get me wrong. The price and the formula however are a different story.
My latest foray into the brand was with the shade "Blanc" which like all the others in my collection was a disappointment to say the least. The color of the white is perfect and as expected with any white polish was sheer so I did expect going in that I'd have to build it up quite a lot and three coats later, here we are.
In most drug stores around my area Essie polishes retail for about $11.99, expensive for a drug store polish, no?
It applied smoothly and evenly but it's not even been a day and there's chipping...minimal but for a polish I'm paying over ten dollars for, I expected a lot better in terms of quality.
I've had five dollar polishes that last longer, hell I've had two dollar polishes that had less chipping in a day.
Albeit, I didn't apply a top coat but I've bought other Essie colors that I've used with not only a top coat but a base coat as well and they still crack and chip before 24 hours has gone by.
Essie, you have an incredible range of colors, many of which I've eyed up but your formula is not up to par. It's unfortunate really as I can't think of another brand that has the range Essie has color wise.

What are your thoughts on the brand?

It's a Miracle

Lancome's Miracle perfume bursts with top notes of Lychee, Freesia & pink peppercorn when first sprayed leaving a lovely floral scent lingering on your skin. As it wears throughout the day you can catch whiffs of the more spicy base notes such as ginger, pepper, amber, musk and patchouli creating a more sensual scent.
Miracle is a very feminine scent that doesn't overpower making it the perfect perfume for your days at the office.
I wouldn't call it long lasting..it lasts but is very subtle almost to the point where unless you're putting your wrist or wherever you may have applied it near your face you really won't smell anything.
The simple bottle design and pretty pink color of the perfume itself looks quite nice sitting on top of the vanity.
I tend to like the more luxurious looking bottles myself but this one is simple and clean cut giving it a minimalistic vibe. Sometimes simple is more.

What's your favorite perfume for the office?

*Sole Patches | Do They Work?

Us ladies are always trying to find new ways to make those gorgeous but painful heels we own more comfortable. Bring in Sole Patches, an innovative patch that you can either stick to your feet or the inside of your shoes.
To test these out I of course went for the most uncomfortable shoes in my collection. They are absolutely stunning but I never wear them because they are such a pain to wear and cause huge discomfort.

I stuck my sole patch to the inside of my shoe where my heel sits as this is the area I feel the most pain in. They felt weird at first just because it's not something I'm used to walking on but these made a significant difference in the comfort level of these babies. The sole patch is made with poron which is a shock absorbing material that creates a nice cushion for your foot. As they are quite a high heel my feet still did get a tiny bit sore by then end of the day but much less than normal. In hindsight I wish I would have also stuck a patch down on the bottom as I think that would have amped up the comfort even more. There is a downfall though be careful wit the adhesive as it's so strong it just pulled the shole right out of my shoe so be cautious when removing. These are a handy tool for anyone who experiences foot discomfort in shoes or just wants to wear that cute pair of heels without the pain!

Are you a "Provocative Woman?"

When I think of the word "Provocative" I think of a sexually exciting person or situation.  Unfortunately Elizabeth Arden's scent in  "Provocative Woman" didn't arouse excitement in me in any way. It fell quite short from what I expected from the enticing name.

The bottle design is lack luster and the scent is anything but provocative.
The notes included are; Ginger Lily, Chilled Quince, Water Lotus (Top Notes)
Pink Freesia, Orchid, Papaya Blossom, Amber, Hinoki Wood & White Sand Accord

It's described as an oriental & floral infusion to create a confident & seductive feel. My immediate thought was this smelled much more floral than I thought it was going to which didn't create a seductive feeling in me at all.
The scent itself is not terrible for the olfactory senses in fact it smells quite good if you're into floral scents but the name of the perfume is misleading. When I think of a sexy scent embodying a woman I lean towards the more spicy side of scents, the ones that really pack a punch not something so floral based. I truly don't mind the subtle smell at all, I think it's a pleasant light scent that lingers for a few hours before fading.
On top of the misleading name the bottle is very boring. When it's sitting between gorgeous perfume bottles in the shelf it would be the last one I'd reach for as there's nothing that draws my eyes to it.  There are a million beautifully designed bottles, it almost seems as there was little to no thought on the design for this.

Not a bad scent but it could have been packaged and presented more creatively as well as given a more apt name.

What scent are you currently loving?
